Steven Gard is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator. He is also a certified mediator in the federal courts of the Middle District of Florida. He is licensed to practice law in Florida and Georgia, and was Board certified by the Florida Bar in the field of Business Litigation from 2010 until 2021. He is a member of the Dispute Resolution Section of the Florida Bar and the ADR Committee of the Jacksonville Bar Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators. Mr. Gard recently retired from the Florida Attorney General’s Office where he served in the Jacksonville, Florida office as a Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division. Prior to joining the Florida Attorney General’s Office, he was in private practice with a firm that he co-founded in 1987. Mr. Gard also has served as an attorney in the Enforcement Division of the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Mr. Gard practiced the majority of his more than 40-year legal career in the areas of securities litigation and arbitration, and defense of investigations and administrative proceedings conducted by the SEC, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and state securities commissions. He has also served as an arbitrator and mediator for FINRA, the New York Stock Exchange and the American Arbitration Association. His legal experience includes cases involving complex commercial litigation, insurance disputes, and business dissolutions.
Mr. Gard received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
