Andrew B. Goshen
Andrew B. Goshen moved to Jacksonville after receiving his law degree from FSU College of Law in 1982. Mr. Goshen began working for the Smith Davenport firm, practicing primarily personal injury, land use, and worker’s compensation law. In 1984, he began his own practice in the area of workers’ compensation, social security, and foreclosure litigation. In 1993, the Supreme Court of Florida certified Mr. Goshen as a Circuit Civil mediator. By 1995, Mr. Goshen became a full-time Mediator in the Office of the Judge of Compensation Claims in Jacksonville, completing over five thousand (5000) mediations ranging in value from a few thousand to many over a million dollars. Mr. Goshen’s resolution rate for many consecutive years was around 90%, usually the highest among the 32 state mediators. Based on that success, he started Goshen and Forte Mediations in 2004, and Andrew B. Goshen Mediations in 2014. He is a fixture in the North Florida mediation scene, devoting his practice to mediation alone to avoid conflicts and ensure impartiality. He has now completed over 10,000 mediations, most of them settling!
Mr. Goshen is AV rated in Martindale Hubble by his fellow lawyers and judges, reflecting the highest possible rating for professionalism and legal skill. His tools include establishing a strong settlement expectation atmosphere, quickly identifying where the real issues are, and creative problem solving through polite persistence with respect for the parties. His focus on the goal of settlement coupled with a calm demeanor allows him to always keep the process moving forward without the issue of being seen as “pushy”. These tools allow him to continue to maintain a very high-resolution rate.
